Haiku poem engraved on reverse.
This small decorative dish is a piece made for my first Goldsmiths Fair exhibition. Inspired by the change in seasons this piece is called Late summer. I imagine the time when the days are almost tipping to autumn. Cloisonné enamel carries the finely applied colours over a subtly engraved base. The added intrigue in this piece is a hand engrave poem on the reverse of the piece. It reads in the Japanese haiku style and flows around the reverse edge:
"late summer rising" "fallen petals spray" "warm passing days" "shading into autumn"
